The University of Sunderland offers life-changing opportunities for 27,500 students across its campuses in Sunderland, London, Hong Kong, and through global partnerships with learning institutions in 15 countries. We’re proud to be a top 50 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2023), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.
Following the growth of the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice over the past academic year the development of a new lecturer/Clinical Link Tutor post to join the nursing team has been developed. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and be part of a growing undergraduate nursing team (Adult, Learning Disability, Mental Health, and Children’s nursing), to develop learning and teaching opportunities and prepare student nurses for the challenges of clinical practice and the rewards of nursing.
About the role
The role will involve 50% of the working week supporting student nurses in clinical placement and for the remaining 50% theoretical and practical teaching across all three years of the programme, supported by experienced academics and the extended university team. We offer an outstanding learning environment with simulated ward spaces, the Living Lab, state of the art equipment, along with award winning library and student support. Opportunities for personal development are outstanding and include the Helen McArdle Research Institute which uniquely enables all academics to engage with practice research.
What you can bring
The role requires excellent clinical knowledge generally across the adult nursing profession and the potential to offer unique specialist skills would be welcomed. Academic teaching experience is not necessary but teaching within the practice arena would be beneficial.
The successful role holder must have current NMC registration as this is essential to the role.
