Contract: Permanent position (full time, 35 hours); applications for part time will be considered.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Administrative Data Research. The post holder will contribute to research, teaching, and management. The post is provided as part of the ESRC funded Administrative Data Research Wales investment and the post holder will undertake research aligned to the research effort of the wider group including pedagogical and other applications of informatics, data science and linked data research (https://popdatasci.swan.ac.uk).

The postholder also will work closely with a vibrant teaching team that currently delivers a portfolio of MSc and continuing professional development courses to develop and deliver new training courses as part of the capacity building and knowledge exchange team. This will include the development and delivery of both health and administrative data courses, online learning content, seminars, reference materials and workshops to support the academic linked data research community. Applications are sought from individuals with skills and experience in the analysis of routine health or administrative data, an interest in developing teaching resources centred on providing technical support and delivery for training and capacity building programmes. Applicants should have a track record in data linkage and the analysis of large complex data (preferably in health or social care), as well as excellent data analysis and visualisation skills. The role provides an exciting opportunity to join Swansea University Medical School, one of the UK’s leading Medical Schools.

The Medical School is a progressive, dynamic, and aspirational part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science located on the Singleton Campus of Swansea University and provides an interdisciplinary approach, educating and training the next generation of doctors, life scientists, and health professionals. It collaborates with the NHS, business and the third sector in a spirit of open innovation and has established itself as a world-class place to learn, research and innovate.  The Medical School ranks top 5 for research quality (REF2021) and is consistently highly ranked in various subject-specific teaching league tables. The Medical School became the first department within the University to achieve an Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) Athena SWAN Charter Silver Award in 2015, and this was re-awarded in 2019 in recognition of its commitment to equality.

We have an under-representation of women in the area of academia and would particularly welcome applications from women for this position. We also have an under representation of individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds and would encourage applications from these groups. Appointments will always be made on merit.
