Part Time, Fixed Term – Academic

This is a part time (0.7 fte), fixed term post for 2 years.

 

We are looking for a lecturer to join the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences.  Candidates should have experience in designing inclusive curriculum and placing empathy at the heart of our curriculum enabling every student to feel a sense of belonging. The successful candidate will be required to teach on our UG Programmes mainly our Life Sciences Foundation Year including broad biology, mathematics for biologists and their application to chemistry. There is an emphasis on supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills, competencies and attitudes required to contribute to a more sustainable future.

 

We will help to develop the portfolio of the successful candidate ensuring that they continue to develop academically, foster the attractiveness of our offer to students and contribute to the development of our course portfolio.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Teaching UG students mainly foundation year, supervising projects and dissertations
  • Leading and developing modules
  • Undertaking other forms of scholarly activity

You should have:

  • First degree in a life sciences subject
  • PhD in a relevant subject
  • Significant FE/HE teaching experience
  • Some postdoctoral research or industry experience
  • Commitment to delivering a good quality student experience
