It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where the successful candidate can work from home and the office. However, as this role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs. We’d expect this to be approximately once a month.

The role
The Open University is recruiting a lecturer in Nursing (simulation) to join the School of Health Wellbeing and Social Care. Key responsibilities will include the development of simulated learning, suitable for nurse education using extended and virtual reality platforms, in addition to supporting the teaching of undergraduate provision in nursing.
The postholder will work predominantly within the undergraduate nursing team to contribute to the development and production of simulated learning within the nursing curricula and support teaching and learning in nurse practice education. Applicants should, therefore, have relevant qualifications and experience demonstrating simulated learning in Nursing. Applicants are expected to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of NMC regulatory standards and experience of bringing in innovation and creativity into their teaching.
Skills and experience
- Current NMC registration
- Educated to Masters level (or equivalent) with experience of teaching in a higher education institution
- Currency in nursing simulated practice education and knowledge and experience of extended reality and/or virtual reality
- A strong record of research and/or knowledge exchange that is commensurate to the position
