Lancaster Medical School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Population Health to join a team of highly dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic colleagues. The appointee will complement our existing research expertise, and applications are encouraged from individuals with a background in public health, epidemiology and biostatistics.

 Lancaster Medical School is a developed and thriving department in teaching, research and engagement, 1st for student satisfaction in both UG programmes, within one of the top ten UK universities. In REF2021 the Faculty of Health and Medicine (FHM) received a score of 100% for a “world leading” research environment; 91% of research outputs were “world leading” or “internationally excellent”, and was 12th (/91) for research power. The successful candidate will be supported to develop their own programme of research, and will be encouraged to develop collaborative research within the faculty and wider university, in line with our research strategy. You will also be encouraged to supervise UG projects and PhD students. 

You will be expected to take responsibility for the development and organisation of aspects of Lancaster Medical School’s population health curriculum. This will include extensive contribution to lectures, practical teaching, special study modules, workshops, forums, lecturing, assessment and admissions activities. The appointee will also contribute more broadly to our innovative and recently updated undergraduate medical degree, and take on a role commensurate with their experience.  

 The Faculty strategy has teaching and research collaborations with NHS colleagues as a priority and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their research in collaboration with clinical and academic colleagues with a very wide range of expertise. The successful candidate would also be encouraged and supported to develop an engagement portfolio, which may include NHS colleagues and other employers, business organisations, professional bodies, local and national government organisations, research funding bodies, and councils, academic, and research networks.
