The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation to join our academic team at our Canterbury campus.

The successful applicant will provide innovative and engaging teaching to students on programmes in the School.

This role would suit a Sports Therapist, Sports Rehabilitator, Musculoskeletal physiotherapist or osteopath, candidates from other healthcare-related disciplines, or accredited strength and conditioning specialists with experience in rehabilitation in sports and/or clinical populations. Additional experience in delivering teaching at HE level would be an advantage.

The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences (SSES) is seeking to be a leading department for the study of sport. We are friendly, dynamic and innovative. The School is now on the Canterbury Campus (since September 2021, having been based in Medway before this).

The school’s undergraduate programmes consist of three BSc (Hons) programmes: Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation, Sport and Exercise Science, and Sport and Exercise for Health; The School has a vibrant postgraduate community including MSc by Research and PhD programmes. We also offer the University’s first professional doctorate programme designed for experienced practitioners, in the Sport, Exercise and Health professions. The School boasts a range of cutting-edge equipment used in research and/or teaching activities, as well as close proximity to the main university sport and recreation facilities. As the School of Sport and Exercises Sciences forms part of a wider Division of Natural Sciences, there are excellent opportunities for collaboration in research, teaching and/or scholarship activities with the recently formed Medical School, and other groups within the Division, as well as other schools based on the Canterbury campus (in other areas of applied health areas).

As Lecturer in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, you will:

  • Deliver and contribute to the design of high-quality, student-centred taught programmes
  • Deliver high quality teaching as a member of the SSES teaching team within a suite of well-established programmes of study (with the assistance of a mentor if required).
  • Construct and supervise final year BSc and MSc student research projects.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a first degree or equivalent in Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy or similar, and either a PhD (or close to completion) OR significant professional experience.
  • Possess sufficient depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work on our Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation programme.
  • Have excellent and inspiring teaching skills, appropriate to the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

The Canterbury Campus is a friendly, well-equipped campus in a desirable location, with excellent schools and a wealth of cultural links and transport connections.
