We are recruiting for a lecturer / senior lecturer with excellent clinical and academic skills to teach across our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy, L6 apprenticeship in Occupational Therapy and Post Graduate programmes.
These well-established programmes rank highly for student satisfaction and graduate employment and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and creative team, embedding innovative teaching and simulation opportunities, focussing on enhancing the student experience and will share in the co-creation and delivery of these popular and respected programmes.
You should be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with a postgraduate qualification who also has experience in clinical supervision. An understanding of principles of learning and teaching in higher education is essential. You should be able to contribute to core areas of the OT curriculum in a research informed manner. We are particularly looking to recruit someone with strong experience in occupational therapy with people with physical and/or neurological disability.
In order to be successful in this post, you should have:
- A good (1st or 2:1) degree in Occupational Therapy plus a postgraduate MSc, or alternatively a relevant first degree plus a pre-registration MSc in Occupational Therapy. Candidates with an post-registration MSc nearing completion will be considered.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as an occupational therapist, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months
- Recent professional experience as a senior occupational therapist, ideally with people with physical and/ or neurological disability
- A Higher Education teaching qualification and/or an HEA Fellowship, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months
- Up-to-date, sound knowledge of current developments in health, social care and the range of skills required to teach the subject
- Experience of implementing creative approaches to developing teaching and learning of occupational therapy related skills and knowledge in university and/or practice setting.
It is desirable to have post-graduate qualifications and an active research portfolio. If you have a Doctorate and can supervise at this level, you will have opportunities to develop as the university has an active programme for supporting early career researchers. Clinical experience in physical and / or neurological Occupational Therapy is desirable but not essential.

The post is currently based at our Eastbourne Campus. Travel to other university & placement sites will also be required. However, we will be moving to the Falmer campus of the university in summer 2024, which can be found on the A23 on the northern edge of Brighton. Bespoke facilities for healthcare education are currently under construction on this campus.
