We are looking to appoint an academic GP who is passionate and has the skills to support students and tutors in GP clinical placements, working with our excellent GP placement leads and GP tutors. The postholder will develop a framework for faculty development for all GP tutors teaching for SGUL: aiming to promote recruitment and retention of GP tutors in the community; to familiarise tutors with the needs of SGUL students, particularly the complexity and challenges of being a student in 2023; and to support struggling students.

Key attributes of the successful applicant include:

  • Experience of delivering primary care education in the community
  • Medical Education experience, scholarship and skills to develop a coherent programme of educational opportunities attractive to the undergraduate GP Tutor Faculty
  • Experience of supporting medical students on placement, from the most able to those who may struggle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with GP tutors, students and academic colleagues
  • Strong organisational, time-management and project management skills
  • Enthusiasm and personal initiative to solve problems, a self-starter with ability to work unsupervised but to contribute to team activities.
