The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will be travelling to Delhi, India, to participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on March 1 and 2 and the Raisina Dialogue on March 3, 2023.

At the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the Minister will discuss India’s G20 agenda under the theme of “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” with a focus on accelerating progress to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2023. Minister Joly will engage with her counterparts on common challenges, including food and energy security, development cooperation, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, as well as effective multilateralism. She will address the acute challenges millions are facing around the world, which are compounded by Russia’s unjustifiable and illegal war against Ukraine.

While in Delhi, Minister Joly will participate in the Raisina Dialogue, co-hosted by India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation, one of India’s leading policy think tanks. She will participate in a panel discussion on the future of the G20 in a changing world.

Throughout her visit, Minister Joly will also reinforce the importance of an open, free and secure Indo-Pacific as Canada continues to expand and invest in the region, creating more opportunities, and building more bridges under its Indo-Pacific Strategy.

During meetings with her counterparts, Minister Joly will reaffirm the core principle of territorial integrity for all states and the importance of upholding international rules and institutions. She will continue to refute Putin’s lies and hold Russia to account for its aggression against Ukraine.
