The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, today announced that he will be travelling to London, United Kingdom, to attend the Ukraine Recovery Conference on June 21, 2023. Minister Sajjan will then travel to Paris, France, where he will take part in the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact on June 22 and 23.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference will be an opportunity for Canada to confirm its strong commitment to Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction by addressing immediate needs, supporting ongoing reform efforts and strengthening Ukraine’s business investment environment for private sector participation.

While at the conference, Minister Sajjan will meet with a private sector delegation from Canada, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and members of Ukrainian civil society, among others.

At the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, Minister Sajjan will affirm Canada’s support for innovative global reforms that improve access to finance for low- and middle-income countries and catalyze much-needed investment in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. During the Summit, Minister Sajjan will also participate in a number of events, including a discussion on multidimensional vulnerabilities and access to financing for small island developing states.

While at the summit, Minister Sajjan will continue, as he did at the recent G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting in India, to encourage developed countries to maintain the momentum for concrete reforms to the international financial architecture that improve access to development finance for developing country partners.
