Job Summary

The Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) is one of Imperial’s seven Global Institutes well placed to leverage the College’s wealth of multidisciplinary talent to innovate across science, technology, design and policy.

IGHI forms part of Imperial’s strategy to find solutions to global challenges by focusing multidisciplinary research expertise on addressing international issues. IGHI focuses on the delivery of high quality and internationally pertinent research and educational programmes.

The Institute has established an exciting and impactful educational offering of Postgraduate Certificates, Diplomas and Masters of Science in Digital Health Leadership, Health Policy, Patient Safety and Design in Healthcare.

Working across all IGHI MSc Programmes, you will be the Principal MSc module teaching faculty for Digital Health Leadership, Patient Safety and Health Policy. You will collaborate with other senior teaching faculty and programme leadership to develop the intersection, synergy and collaborative teaching and learning components between the subject matter specific coursework and the dissertation curriculum portions of each MSc-awarding programme.

This is a busy, complex and varied collaborative post with wide-ranging responsibility. This position requires a passion for education, excellent organisational skills and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for major areas of teaching activity and student experience throughout the year-long dissertation module offered as part of IGHI’s MSc programmes, which are predominantly delivered online.

You will be expected to direct the design and delivery of the dissertation curriculum and will have responsibility for planning and organising peer learning activities, pastoral support, workshops, tutorials and other innovative and engaging learning to optimise the unique Dissertation of Practice approach.

You will be responsible for using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods across the dissertation module. In addition, you will be accountable for training and leading the marking team required to handle the high and consistent marking load, as well as marking and moderating dissertations. Significant qualitative assignment marking experience is highly desirable.

Essential requirements

The role requires deep specialist experience in innovative online pedagogy and working with a busy working professional student cohort. You will be expected to hold an appropriate postgraduate qualification and have experience in healthcare leadership or professional education.

You will have excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to direct substantial programmes of teaching, supervision and assessment at a postgraduate level. You will have substantial experience of working with academic staff to plan, design, develop, test and evaluate online learning resources as a core component of a programme of study with specialist knowledge in best practice for online course and program design and development.
