The role

The role combines clinical and research training in Geriatric Medicine. The successful applicant will be supported by the Ageing and Movement Research Group (AMRG) in Population Health Sciences to develop their own independent programme of research. This post is open to candidates at ST3 level or above who have been awarded or submitted their MD or PhD at the time of application.

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will combine completing their clinical training in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine (GIM), working towards CCT (50% FTE), with academic training in Geriatric Medicine, working towards developing their own programme of research and applying for Advanced Fellowships (50% FTE).

You should apply if

  • You have completed core training or are eligible for higher specialist training in Geriatric Medicine at ST3 level or above.
  • You have completed, or submitted, a higher degree by research by the time of applying for the post (PhD or MD or equivalent), which must have been awarded by the time of taking up the post (31st August 2024 at the latest).
  • You are motivated to continue clinical academic training in Geriatric Medicine.

Additional information

Contract type: Annually renewable fixed term basis for a period of up to 4 years FTE (6 years maximum duration for less than full time training) or until CCT, whichever occurs first.

Work pattern: Full time/ 1.0 FTE (part-time considered)

Shift pattern: to be agreed
