Role Summary
The University of Birmingham (UoB), School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoN&M) has expanded its undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio and we want to ensure our students are transformed through the high quality teaching and learning they experience. To achieve this we are expanding our clinical skills and simulation teaching team across all fields of nursing. We wish to attract individuals from either adult, mental health or child field of practice or dual qualified registrants who are committed to supporting the development of next generation of registered nurses.
The School offers a range of routes leading to registration including a three-year Bachelor of Nursing, a four-year Master of Nursing (single as well as dual field qualification) and a two-year postgraduate MSc programme. We also offer a range of programmes aimed at qualified practitioners including Advanced Clinical Practice and independent prescribing and will soon be delivering MSc Midwifery.
We seek to attract graduate adult, mental health, or child NMC registered nurses who are committed to the education and professional development. You will support the design, delivery, evaluation, and assessment of the undergraduate and post graduate clinical skills and simulated practice teaching; and will work together with academic and professional services colleagues to develop online learning resources and assessments to support skill enhancement and simulation based learning.
If new to higher education successful applicants will be encouraged to pursue a Higher Education Academy approved post graduate qualification in health professional education.
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or cognate discipline
- Registered Nurse (RN) child, adult or mental health field or dual qualified with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Evidence of interest in the use of high fidelity simulation based learning and support the development of others to optimise learning through simulation based learning
- A Higher degree relevant to healthcare or cognate disciplines, research or teaching or equivalent qualifications is preferred
- Hold or willingness to undertake qualification in Higher Education/Fellowship Higher Education Academy
- High level analytical capability
