About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to make a major contribution to a Northwest Cancer Research funded project. The project is exploring support interventions for children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families during and after treatment. Joining the Children, Young People and Families research team in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine you will be a key member of the team.
You will have core responsibility for undertaking data collection of a sensitive nature involving the use of online surveys, activity-based interviews with children, young people and their siblings, semi-structured interviews with parents/carers and adult family members, and participatory decision-making workshops with all participant groups. You will also have responsibility for data entry and analysis and will work collaboratively with staff within and external to the research team and co-ordinate communication with stakeholders to support the smooth running of the study.

About You
As Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Children and Young Person’s Cancer Research Project, you will:
- be familiar with the principles of ethical conduct in research and in particular those ethical issues that specifically pertain to working with children, young people, and their parents and carers.
- experience of undertaking quantitative and qualitative research (including data collection, analysis and writing).
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise and work with children, parents and carers, and health professionals.
- experience of working on externally funded research projects.
- excellent organisation, time management and team working skills, with the ability to work independently across a range of settings.
It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure for you from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
