We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant within the Saurin lab at our Division of Cellular and Systems Medicine. This is a fixed-term appointment for 20 months (with possible extension dependent on funding application).

The position is to take over a well-developed project on the mechanism of genome size sensing, for which we have a large body of unpublished work already. Therefore, there is a good opportunity for a rapid publication, certainly within the initial project duration. We are ideally seeking a candidate with cell cycle experience, but would consider all backgrounds and levels of experience.

For further information about this position please contact Dr. Adrian Saurin at a.saurin@dundee.ac.uk. To find out more about the lab please visit www.saurinlab.com. In particular, check out the philosophy section to learn more about the lab culture.

The successful applicant will:

  • Examine how cells protect themselves against genome amplification and investigate how this breaks down in cancer cells.
  • Use a wide range of cell biology and biochemical approaches, including quantitative live-cell microscopy.
  • Work exclusively in mammalian cell types, which will be genetically modified using CRISPR/Cas9.

We are primarily looking for a highly-motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researcher with a passion for science. Endless questions are more important the endless skills. However, experience of working within the cell cycle field a would be advantageous.

Who we are looking for:

  • Candidates with a PhD in relevant scientific area.
  • Candidates with a strong scientific background in cell biology and/or cancer biology
  • Candidates who are motivated, honest, hard-working and possess excellent organisational skills
