Contract Type – Fixed Term – 2 Years – Full Time, 35 hours per week
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral research fellow to conduct research into the molecular pathways which are responsible for the communication between nerve and muscle during neuromuscular junction regeneration.
The Opportunity:
You will contribute to a research project investigating the mechanisms of neuromuscular junction regeneration. The project will employ a new transgenic mouse line which allows purification of the cell surface proteome. We will then use proteomic analysis to profile the proteome during axon regeneration after peripheral nerve injury. The goal of this work is to find mechanisms which can be targeted to enhance axon regeneration. This is of specific relevance in the childhood motor neuron disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy but also has relevance to all motor neuron diseases and peripheral neuropathies.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD in an relevant area of cell biology
- Experience in using fundamental laboratory techniques for the cellular and/or molecular analysis of cells and/or tissue
- Experience working with laboratory animals
- Ability to understand complex scientific concepts and contribute innovate solutions to problems.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently both orally and in writing
