The Psychology Department in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher on a full time, fixed term basis available from 1st of November 2023.
The Opportunity:
The postdoctoral researcher will work with Dr Jasna Martinovic on a vision science workstream of a large-scale, multi-site Wellcome Trust project entitled “Lithium’s mechanism in bipolar disorder: investigating the light hypersensitivity hypothesis”. Which aims to ascertain the precise mechanism of lithium action in bipolar disorder, and will evaluate the hypothesis that it may work by stabilizing aberrant circadian rhythms of mood, cognition and rest/activity, possibly via an action at the level of the retina.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- A PhD or equivalent degree in Psychology, Optometry, Neuroscience, or related discipline (pending assumed complete can be considered).
- Training in data collection and analysis in at least one of the key research techniques (colour psychophysics or EEG).
- Extensive research experience in data processing and/or advanced statistical analysis of visual neuroscience data, using Matlab, Python, R or similar software.
- The ability to communicate complex information clearly orally and in writing within a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent time management, team-working, problem solving and organisational skills.
