We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Scientist to work in the Centre for Artificial Intelligence for Precision Medicine (CAIPM), an ambitious, collaborative and cross-disciplinary Centre combining leading scientists from the University of Oxford and King Abdulaziz University.

You will be responsible for designing in vitro or cell-based assays to identify inhibitors and activators, and characterise their interaction with the targeted proteins. You will determine high-resolution structures of the target proteins and their protein-ligand complexes using crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities and contribute your ideas for new research projects. You will work as part of a team with internal and external collaborators and contribute to the scientific output of the group by publishing high quality manuscripts and by representing the group on scientific meetings.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in biochemistry/cell biology/structural biology and have an excellent academic track record. You will have experience in molecular biology (e.g. cloning, site-directed mutagenesis) and setting up and performing in vitro and/or cellular biophysical and biochemical assays. You will have excellent oral presentation and written communication skills including experience independently writing scientific reports and manuscripts. Having experience in protein structure determination using NMR, X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy is desirable.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 18 months and is funded by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Precision Medicine (CAIPM).

Only applications received before 12 midday on 8 November 2023 will be considered. Please quote 168092 on all correspondence.
