Catherine, Princess of Wales, has left hospital after abdominal surgery.

She had been at the private London Clinic for two weeks.

The princess will be reunited with George, Charlotte and Louis as well as her husband William, Prince of Wales.

Her operation occurred at the same hospital as King Charles’ prostate surgery and meant that two of the most senior royals were out of action at the same time.

On Monday, Kensington Palace said Kate had returned home and was “making good progress”.

She was driven away from the London Clinic and did not talk to the press or well-wishers.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided,” the royal statement said.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

In contrast to the King’s very public revelation of his condition, the princess has been tight lipped about what caused her hospital stay beyond that it was surgery in the abdomen. However, the palace did confirm it was not cancer related.

She was expected to be out of the public eye for months – until after Easter – following her 13 night hospital stay.

However, The Sun reported sources as saying that the Princess of Wales’ could be back to her royal duties sooner and is eager to get back to work.

She is said to have plans to work from bed once she arrives home from her surgery.

William visited her every day at the London Clinic but the three children did not appear to go to the hospital during her stay.

Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, were said to have cleared their schedule to help with the children.

While the princess was in hospital, the King had a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate.

It is understood the monarch will miss a month of royal engagements while he recovers.

In another health fright for the royals, it was revealed last week that Sarah Ferguson has been battling an aggressive skin cancer.

The Sun revealed Fergie, the Duchess of York, was battling cancer for the second time in just six months.

The 64-year-old had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma after a mole was removed as she underwent treatment for breast cancer.

Sarah encouraged everyone to check the size, shape, colour and texture and emergence of new moles to catch any potential skin cancer early.
