About us
The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is based in the Faculty of Population Health Sciences.
We are seeking to appoint a Chair in Climate and Health. Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time and UCL will provide the ideal environment for the postholder to build a world-leading research agenda. Addressing the climate crisis is one of UCL’s four grand challenges and this post is being created as part of a new strategic investment. The post-holder will have the opportunity to work across world-leading institutes and faculties, including the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction, the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, the Department of Geography, as well as the Institute for Global Health, where they will be based, and which hosts the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change.
About the role
The postholder will be expected to develop and lead a programme of cross-disciplinary research in climate and health. We are seeking to conduct research that informs health and climate change policies and will consider strong candidates within a broad area of climate change and health research and provide them with an environment, support and opportunities to grow their ideas. There is considerable interest in the climate and health research agenda within the different groups in IGH and across UCL. IGH also has considerable strength in methods, including health economics, statistics, modelling and qualitative research. The postholder will provide research leadership, fostering synergy and catalysing collaborative research initiatives between research groups in the area of climate and health.
The salary for this role is competitive.
About you
The postholder should have an outstanding research portfolio with a track record in health research and strong skills in leadership to be able to bring together and galvanise our interests and take us to a different level. They will be expected to maintain funding for a world class research programme and supervise and mentor PhD and postdoctoral researchers.
