We are ranked in the world’s top 350 institutions in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and we are a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. Our research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world-leading. In 2021, we were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our world-leading music therapy work.

About the Role:

You will join our School of Life Sciences, working with academics teaching and conducting world-class research in Ecology, Conservation, animal behaviour, Biomedical Science, Forensic Science, Crime and Investigative Science, based in our Faculty of Science and Engineering. The post holder(s) will be expected to demonstrate leadership in research and have an excellent and active record of research income generation. You will be widely connected to a network of external collaborators, including funding bodies, and/or industrial partners, and will exploit your knowledge and experience in order to assist other colleagues in the School of Life Sciences to enhance their research activities.

While this post will not have a significant teaching responsibility, the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to teaching particularly in the area of research project supervision and undergraduate and MSc level, where your knowledge of research would enhance the student experience. With a PhD or Professional Doctorate, you’ll have excellent understanding of the research environment in the UK and globally and demonstrating significant and sustained leadership in fostering and maintaining a collegial environment.
