About the role
This post is to support the objectives of the recently awarded NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (£26M) Cardiovascular theme You will be a high calibre clinician/scientist (Cardiology), possessing full GMC registration and a licence to practice.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences & NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, which has a national and international reputation in translational research.
You will have a research profile of well-established national/international standing and be a significant research income generator able to enhance impact activity and develop a programme of high-quality research, directed at disease mechanisms and personalised medicine with increased focus on the impact of multiple long-term conditions, ethnicity and frailty. Applicants with complimentary interests in arrhythmia; genomics, heart failure, imaging, intervention or multimorbidity are encouraged to apply.
In addition, you will supervise a team of clinical and nonclinical postgraduate and undergraduate researchers and contribute to teaching delivery within the College.
In addition to five academic programmed activities, you will also deliver five programmed activities delivering consultant clinical service at Glenfield Hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
