This is an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team at the National Horizons Centre (NHC) as a Professor or Associate Professor aligned to Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange (EKE). This position is a transformative role where you will drive the NHC EKE and commercial strategy for income generation. You will have academic, industrial or other relevant experience in an area aligned to the NHC and will have an enterprise and/or commercial background with experience spotting opportunities and closing deals to generate income.

Teesside University has a dynamic and collaborative community with a strong track record working with business. Based at the NHC, you will be at the forefront of biosciences and translational healthcare working with industry, SMEs and the NHS to make real-world impact. As the NHC AP/Prof of Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange you will work closely with the NHC Head of Partnerships and Business Development to develop the NHC Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange strategy to grow our collaborative/user led research, KTPs, consultancy, commercial offer and CPD.

We are looking for a commercially minded, senior leader with the drive and vision who will boost our EKE. You will have experience in one or more areas aligned to the NHC, and we particularly welcome applicants with expertise in:  

  • advancing translation
  • innovation scale-up
  • biomanufacturing
  • engineering biology
  • analytics (e.g. mass spectrometry)
  • translational healthcare
  • innovation development, evaluation and implementation (e.g. device, service, software)

The role of Professor or Associate Professor represents the highest academic recognition and grade conferred by the university and staff in professorial roles are expected to be able to demonstrate ongoing performance that is unequivocally excellent in your field, and act as ambassadors for the university in terms of its global academic standing and reputation.

Professors or Associate Professors are expected to have national and international recognition, reputation and profile for outstanding current work in their field; have a track record of sustained excellence in terms of outcomes, outputs and impact from their work, and provide leadership in their discipline both within the university and externally.

Please be advised that due to the minimum salary thresholds imposed by the UKVI, this post will qualify for University sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.
