This role is a job share – with the successful applicant working 28.5 hours per week on a hybrid working arrangement for a 2 year FTC. You will be expected to work in our central London office 1 to 2 days per month, which will need to be flexible to support the needs of the business when applicable.
The expected start date will be 1st September 2023.
The Research and Engagement Lead develops research ideas and conducts high quality research for BPAS, working across internal and externally funded projects and collaborations, drafts funding bids, seeks opportunities to engage all stakeholders with the work of the Centre for Reproductive Research & Communication, and supports the CRRC Director on the strategic direction of the centre.
We are looking for someone who will lead and manage research projects, developed in partnership with other BPAS/Centre for Reproductive Research and Communication (CRRC) members and external collaborators, seeking ethical approval where required. The selected candidate will design and conduct high quality quantitative and qualitative research and contribute, as an author, to journal publications, conference abstracts and posters.
We require someone to present research and undertake a program of engagement with different audiences and stakeholders, lead on the engagement of service-users and providers and strengthen relationships with funding bodies and industry partners.
Main duties of the role:
The role requires experience of working within research and engagement roles, ideally with knowledge of provision of abortion and sexual and reproductive health services in the UK. Proven experience of grant and protocol writing is a must.
We are looking for someone who has excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets and timelines, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is key to this role.
We are also looking for:
- Educated to a masters or doctoral level in a clinical, health related, or social sciences subject
- Experience of writing successful research grant proposals from a range of funders
- A strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and an understanding of research ethics and the ability to conduct research in an ethical and responsible manner
- Successful design and implementation of research studies, along with writing and publishing papers in scientific journals
- Engagement strategies, including outreach, community engagement, and partnership development and Implementing engagement initiatives that have resulted in meaningful relationships with stakeholders
- Proficiency in Excel, STATA and Dedoose and/or other qualitative and quantitative data analysis packages

Hours of work: Job share of a full time role. Successful applicant will work 28.5hrs over 4 days. To be worked between the parameters of
Monday – Thursday 09:00 – 17:00
Friday 09:00 – 15:30
Location: This is a hybrid working role, with 1/2 days per month required in our regional office in Furnival Street, London which will be flexible to suit business needs
Salary: £38,762 – £47,826 – Pro rata depending on skills & Experience. (Salary includes ILW)
