Duration: Fixed Term for 6 months

The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint two exceptional candidates to the post of Research Assistant.

The successful candidates will work as active members of a cancer drug discovery programme led by Prof. Daniel Longley within the Patrick G. Johnston Centre for Cancer Research. The successful candidates will join a team focussed on evaluating novel-apoptosis inducing agents targeting the critical cell death regulator FLIP providing laboratory support for the programme.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • Degree or equivalent in subject relevant to research activity e.g. Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or a related area
  • Recent, relevant research experience in cancer biology
  • Practical experience in a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques (such as tissue culture, Western blotting, flow cytometry, PCR, immunocytochemistry).

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
