Job Summary 

Purpose of the Post 

You will join the Imperial Centre for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (ICCP) and be assigned to the Post-Authorisation Safety Study (PASS): An observational study to evaluate the long-term effects of evinacumab treatment in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HoFH). This six-year Ultragenyx-funded study is one of several ongoing observational studies on the FH Studies Collaboration (FHSC) global registry led by the ICCP in collaboration with 74 countries. 

Extensive work has gone into collating a deeply phenotyped dataset of 70,000 FH cases in the FHSC registry, provided by National Lead Investigators (NLIs) from 70 countries thus far. The present dataset has yielded novel findings culminating in a publication in The Lancet 2021 and a second publication in press. The findings of these data are already being utilised by patient advocacy groups and by ministerial/department of health at an international-level. Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivery of a multi-national observational study to inform regulatory approval of novel treatment. Support and training will be provided to you.

A-Research

  • Conduct statistical analyses and prepare results for annual reports to Ultragenyx.
  • Drafting the study material, including the statistical analysis plan and code, funder reports, and publication materials, e.g. conference abstracts and manuscripts.
  • As deemed appropriate by the line manager, contribute to other FHSC studies.

B- Data management

  • Liaising with database managers, and cleaning/analysing data.

C- Project management and site training

  • Routine running of PASS, liaising with NLIs from different countries, being the initial point of contact for Ultragenyx, and organising regular stakeholder meetings.
  • Contribute to site training for the NLI’s contributing data to PASS and development of workshop materials.

Other Duties:

  • Undertake essential training and development.
  • Undertake administration tasks and attend meetings.

Where Imperial or funder conditions necessitate, you will be required to complete timesheets for your work.

Essential requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in, and knowledge of, public health, epidemiology or a related discipline.
  • Experience of quantitative data analysis (ANOVA, linear and logistic regressions, etc).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and academic writing) with ability to conduct detailed literature reviews and summarise results in publication-quality tables/figures/text for reports and manuscripts.
  • Advanced computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheets and reference managers etc).
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and able to work with a wide range of people, within a team and independently.
  • Meticulous approach and attention to detail with ability to organise own workload with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible and a willingness to travel abroad for work-related purposes.
  • Discipline and regard for confidentiality and security at all times.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
