We have an opportunity for a Research Assistant to contribute to an exciting project, ‘Physical Activity, social Connectedness and healthy ageing (PACES): intervention development’, which is part of the larger PACES project and funded by the UKRI Medical Research Council.

You will be working with project lead Professor Sharon Simpson, within the Complexity in Health Relationships and Health SPHSU programmes, and the broader PACES team.

The role is to support the early-stage development of place-based interventions to improve physical activity and social connectedness to support healthy ageing and will involve various tasks including conducting a literature review and evidence synthesis, supporting the facilitation of, and analysis of data from, participatory workshops and working groups, and conducting and analysing qualitative interviews.

The post will suit those with interest and experience in some of the following: interviewing techniques, collaborative group working, facilitating workshops, participatory methods, visual methods, and qualitative analysis. Those with knowledge and interest in areas such as systems thinking, complexity science, public health, or intervention development would be able to apply those skills to the project.

The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of reports for the funder, research publications and research proposals as well as helping to manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

This position is full time and fixed term for 12 months, with a proposed start date of 2 October 2023.
