Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant to support a research project investigating the role of metabolism in primary Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection.

The Hess laboratory is based at the Cambridge Institute for Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease and broadly investigates the metabolic basis of lymphocyte function and translational aspects of immunometabolic regulation.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters qualification in a related biological sciences discipline, as well as significant laboratory experience in immunology and cellular metabolism. Familiarity with isolation of primary immune cell subsets from blood, cell culture, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, and microscopy are essential. Experience with a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as Western blotting and qPCR is an advantage. Candidates should also demonstrate evidence of being able to effectively troubleshoot research problems and adapt research protocols. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, are essential.
