In the context of Bournemouth University 2025 vision and strategy centred on Health & Wellbeing and Digital & Technological Futures, applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work on a Dunhill Medical Trust funded innovation project. The post-holder will be expected to assist with the development of a novel community-based food model to improve the health, wellbeing and social connectedness of older people.
The position holder will undertake research desk research (scoping review) to inform intervention, undertake the day-to-day set-up and delivery of the intervention, its evaluation and dissemination closely with the lead researcher (Dr Sophia Amenyah), co-investigators (Professor Jane Murphy and Professor Lee-Ann Fenge) and collaborators, United St Saviours Charity. Experience in participatory action research, community-based participatory research will be required to co-create and co-deliver the community-based food model. The position holder will be responsible for core aspects of the research and engaging with various stakeholders including older adults, local community, community organisations and collaborating partners. This will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, advanced knowledge of literature searching and synthesis and experience of working together with underserved communities. You will also have a positive and proactive attitude to solution seeking, and willingness to take initiatives and contribute to meet tight deadlines.
This position is available on a fixed-term basis until 03 July 2025.
