An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community and Health Research Unit (CaHRU) as a Research Assistant within the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln.

You will work on a study titled ‘improving Pain mAnagement for childreN and young people attendeD by Ambulance (PANDA): A realist informed intervention development and feasibility study’. The aim of this PANDA study is to explore the experiences of children and young people who have been attended by ambulance for a painful condition, along with their parents/carers and ambulance clinicians and to develop and test a new method to improve pain management. The study is funded by Health Education England (HEE)/National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) as part of an Advanced Clinical and Practitioner Academic Fellowship.

You will be involved in all aspects of the research, including: obtaining ethics permissions; working on a realist review; recruiting children, young people, parents/carers and ambulance clinicians to the study; conducting interviews; undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis, facilitating consensus workshop sessions and supporting a cluster feasibility randomised controlled trial. You will also be responsible for supporting preparation of reports, conference abstracts, presentations, and journal papers.

Ideally, you will already have experience of using realist methods. Experience of qualitative methods involving NVivo would also be beneficial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well with members of the wider project team and CaHRU staff.

You will need to be qualified to at least Honours degree level in a relevant subject (1st, 2.1 or equivalent), and proven knowledge of writing for publication would be an advantage.
