Role Summary
To provide research support to the two prominent research programmes within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The School leads two research programmes, both of which are highly interdisciplinary and have membership from across the Colleges and comprise representation from multiple, external collaborators. These are drawn from the UK and internationally. We are seeking an appropriate person to work 0.5 for a fixed period of two years. The post holder will be expected to work with the leads and members of both research programmes to support administrative work and to contribute, for example, to report writing, presentations and seminars. We expect that, where appropriate, the most holder will be able to develop their own research profile by bridging both programmes.
In brief, the two programmes are as follows:
The Risk Abuse and Violence (RAV) Research Programme: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/nursing/research/rav.aspx
RAV was formally established in September 2016, building on considerable international research undertaken by core members in preceding years. Since then, we have grown capacity and reach and have established a critical mass within the RAV programme. The RAV programme now has a strong international reputation for high quality research and associated educational provision in risk, abuse and violence. Most RAV research is with partners external to University of Birmingham and this is reflected in our membership. Importantly, we also have significant international collaborations; an essential requirement in tackling a problem with the magnitude of risk, abuse and violence. In line with its aim, RAV research has impacted on relevant policies, practices and education in the UK and internationally.
BRHUmB West Midlands End of Life Care Research Hub:
https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/nursing/research/brhumb/index.aspx
Developed from the existing End-of-Life care research programme, BRHUmB received NIHR funding in 2021 for 12 months to develop partnerships and build capacity making it a regional centre of excellence of end-of-life care research. BRHUmB has attracted national and international interest with requests for collaboration, invites for expert participation in national agenda redevelopment and policy reform and to support PhD students and research interns from abroad. Further funding to support the day-to-day admin is crucial to enable sustainability and support the rapid growth of the research programme
