About us

We are Kohlrabi Consulting, a small team of mixed-method academics working within and outside of academia to produce high quality health-based research which matters. We are passionate about research equity and prioritise research that improves the health and wellbeing of the public. We work with charities, government and NHS services providing them with knowledge they trust to make a difference to what they do.

About you

We wish to hire a Research Consultant as Associate or Senior level (salary and responsibilities contingent on experience). Senior Research Consultants must have a PhD or equivalent experience.

We are looking for a confident researcher who is keen to play a part in strengthening the company we are building, while supporting the team to deliver existing research and lead new bids. If you are culturally competent, ethical, proactive and flexible, you bring positivity and accountability to your work, and new challenges excite you, we want to hear from you!

We are particularly interested in a researcher with 1+ skills in our priority areas:

i)      Systematic review skills;
ii)     Co-designing research with the public to tackle health inequalities;
iii)    Creating evidence-based policy and recommendations;
iv)    Writing for a variety of audiences.

Roles & responsibilities

 1.Building the business: Our start-up has grown quickly. You will play a part in delivering our strategy, including applying for funding/client work and developing our reputation as an exemplary and ethical research consultancy. You will be welcomed to bring your values and imagination to put your stamp on how you think research should be run.

 2.Project delivery: We handle a number of varied projects concurrently. You will need communication skills to build trusted relationships with clients, dedicated project management abilities to lead a project, and an eye for detail when delivering high-quality written reports, presentations or other creative outputs.

 3.Research skills: Your research skills will be strong in either quantitative or qualitative methodologies, including designing methodology and writing up findings. We conduct an exciting range of work, delivering reports, academic papers and presentations, based on evidence from our systematic or rapid literature reviews, surveys, ethnography, interviews/focus-groups, and public involvement.

A more detailed person specification is available on our website. Criteria are not essential binary factors, but highlight desirable criteria instead. We will consider candidates with enthusiasm for learning new skills.
