Background

An exciting opportunity to work as a Researcher for the ‘Improving Access To Healthcare: Face-to-face And Telehealth Equivalence Of Assessments In Aphasia (FATE-A)’ project.

The project is funded by the Barts Charity and aims to create resources for telehealth administration of key aphasia outcome measures; and test the face to face and telehealth equivalence of these measures.

You will benefit from a vibrant research environment at City and working within an aphasia research team with world leading research outputs.

Responsibilities

Your role will include, among other things: working with service users with aphasia and their significant others; creating and using online resources to facilitate telehealth assessment; collecting outcome measures from participants with aphasia; maintaining accurate records; inputting data on databases; and supporting any dissemination outputs and events organised for participants. 

You will receive support and mentoring from the project team, as appropriate to the role; and you will benefit from a range of resources for researchers at City.

Person Specification

A degree in Speech and Language Therapy with first or upper second class or equivalent.

Knowledge and understanding of ethical conduct of research and clinical research methodology.

Experience of working with people with aphasia and using assessments and outcome measures with them.

Experience of communicating effectively and sensitively with a range of stakeholders.

Experience and understanding of techniques for the management of clinical research information.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent planning, time management, and organisation skills.

Good digital skills.

Additional Information

The role is available from 1st October 2023. There is potentially two posts available which can be split between 0.4 FTE and 0.6 FTE or one candidate can start with 0.4 FTE and then increase up to 1 FTE from 1st January 2024.
