The Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology, which is the main focus of research on the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases at LSHTM, both in high income as well as in low/middle-income countries, wishes to appoint a full-time Research Fellow to work on the African Breast Cancer – Disparities in Outcomes (ABC-DO) study, a cohort of women with a breast cancer diagnosis recruited in five sub-Saharan African countries. The successful applicant will be mainly responsible for the conduct of survival and survivorship analyses of the ABC-DO data. 

The post-holder should have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic. They should have strong data management skills alongside strong statistical skills in the analysis of longitudinal data with repeated measurements, including analysis of time-to-event (survival) data, using Stata and/or R statistical packages. The post-holder should have good organisational skills, including effective time management and willingness to travel overseas for study meetings if required. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term for 1-year. The post is funded by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and is available from 01 October 2023.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947-£46,054 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
