The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow at the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine.
The postholder will be a highly productive and collaborative laboratory researcher working jointly between the Ingram and Valvano research groups. This project focus is the development of anti-bacterial vaccine development and will utilise in vitro and in vivo models to test vaccine efficacy. The laboratory teams are highly collaborative, carrying out basic and clinical research with partners locally, nationally and internationally. This position is suited to an ambitious, productive, and collaborative individual with excellent capacity to work from own initiative and meet deadlines, keen attention to detail and strong organisation skills. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology, vaccinology and/or T cell biology and will be seeking ambitious and challenging research projects in a well-supported environment.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
- Obtained or are about to obtain a relevant PhD.
- Substantial relevant research experience in the following areas: immunology, microbiology, flow cytometry, tissue culture, immunoassay and histology.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
