Cancer and digital interventions for mental health

Working in collaboration with research teams within ICR/RMH and partner academic institutes and with industry partner WYSA this project will focus on the real-world evaluation of a digital tool for the support of mental health in cancer patients. The fellow will have access to individual level global mental health dataset including data from over 6 million patients. The ideal candidate will have a real interest in digital innovation for mental health and how AI chatbots can be optimised for different service user groups.

There is a significant amount of activity in digital health and cancer at ICR, and this NIHR funded role builds on existing NIHR AI for healthcare funded research and aligns with a larger national cancer prehabilitation programme, led by the Royal Marsden hospital. The successful candidate will become part of this wider national and global research team.

Key Requirements

The post-holder will have a dual role: (a) lead the analysis of the ‘WYSA digital mental health app’ and (b) applying methods and provide methodological guidance in new and existing projects. We seek an experienced quantitative analyst to contribute to the research axis of the new Health Informatics group. The candidate must have a track record of applying new methodologies for the analysis of healthcare data. The candidate must be able to effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary environment of clinicians, researchers and health informaticians to formulate research projects by identifying clinically relevant questions, data, methods and provide guidance on analysis in existing projects. The candidate is expected to contribute to the application for competitive funding and the building of national and international collaborations with external institutes. Duties and responsibilities: The post-holder will be a key academic staff member of the Health Informatics group at ICR. They will also hold an honorary contract with the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
