Fixed-term (available for up to 36 months)

Full time (35 hours per week)

The opportunity:

The Emmerson and Bain research groups are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to work on a 3 year Medical Research Council (MRC)-funded project investigating macrophage-niche crosstalk and salivary gland regeneration/degeneration following radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. The project aims to extensively characterise the degeneration period, ascertain the kinetics of crucial ligand-cell interactions and test if regeneration can be rescued by restoring macrophage-niche crosstalk.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD (or near completion) in immunology, inflammation biology, regenerative medicine, or a similar area
  • Background and practical experience with methods, especially in vivo experimental work
  • Knowledge of macrophage biology and/or regenerative medicine and an excellent track record of publications in top tier conferences and/or journals
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines and report on project progress
  • Ability to communicate and interpret complex information clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Keen on becoming a part of a dynamic young collaborative research team
  • Curious and driven
