MRC Human Genetics Unit within the IGC
Full-Time 35 hours
Fixed-Term Contract for 3 years
A Research Fellow is sought after for 3 years to develop and apply high-throughput synthetic biology methods to study mutations in transcription factor genes associated with human disease.
The Opportunity:
The post-holder will work in the group of Grzegorz Kudla to perform deep mutational scanning on human transcription factor genes. You will use methods available in the lab (gene synthesis, saturation mutagenesis, high-throughput phenotypic screens, functional genomics) or develop your own methods to understand how mutations in transcription factors influence molecular function and disease phenotypes. You will collaborate closely with computational scientists to use your data to train predictive models of transcription factor function.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD in molecular or computational biology, or within the final stages or obtaining a PhD degree.
- Keen interest in working at the interface of experimental and computational science.
- Enthusiasm and ability to work as part of a team.
