About us
We invite applications for two Postdoctoral Research Fellows in UCL’s Institute of Immunity & Transplantation in the laboratory of Professor Pavel Tolar. The research will be based in the new Pears Building at the Royal Free Hospital campus.

The Institute of Immunity and Transplantation is a world-leading centre of excellence for research into the immune system and for improving disease diagnosis and therapy. Located in the brand-new Pears building, the Institute offers outstanding research facilities for mechanistic immunology, including modern laboratory space, state-of-the-art flow cytometry, imaging and sequencing platforms, and animal units at the Royal Free campus. About the role
Two posts are available to work on a project focusing on germinal centre responses to vaccine antigens. The postholders will investigate the role of the spatial organisation of follicular dendritic cells in retaining antigens and presenting them to germinal centre B cells. The project will use recently developed mouse models coupled with imaging, molecular, biophysical and computational methods. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with a background in immunology, cell biology or biophysics interested in joining an exciting and dynamic research environment.
The positions are available immediately and are funded for three years in the first instance with a possibility of extension up to five years.

About you
Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in immunology, biomedical sciences, or similar and have an outstanding research track record with excellent knowledge of immunology, genetics or cell biology. Competency in modern techniques of molecular biology and immunology is essential, and experience with mouse models and single-cell sequencing is welcome.
Note: Appointment at grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, the initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B, with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
