An opportunity has arisen for a Research Fellow to join the Faculty of Medicine, School of Human Development and Health based at Southampton University Hospital Trust. The successful candidate will join a research team involved in delivering 2 research studies: the Frail2fit study and the PIVOT study. The Frail2fit study aims to explore the feasibility and acceptability of training volunteers to deliver a multimodal online intervention which includes physical activity and nutrition interventions for older people living with frailty. The PIVOT study is a multicentre implementation trial exploring the use of trained volunteers to engage with older people in hospital to exercise during their hospital stay to reduce deconditioning.
The post holder will be required to process, house and analyse data generated by the project team to determine the feasibility and acceptability of both interventions by applying a mixed methods approach. Experience in using SPSS and NVIVO will be beneficial.
The role requires expertise in quantitative and qualitative research and in addition, experience in ageing research.
The successful candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent professional qualifications and experience) in an area of ageing research or any physical activity-related field of research.
This full-time position is offered for a fixed-term for 7 months in the first instance. The post will be aligned to the Faculty of Medicine, School of Human Development and Health based at Southampton University Trust (Southampton General Hospital) and Highfield campus.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
