This post represents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join the Aberdeen Centre for Health Data Science (ACHDS) in the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition (SMMSN), University of Aberdeen.

The ACHDS is a partnership between the University of Aberdeen, NHS Grampian and NHS Research & Development North Node enabling the utilisation of electronic health records to address health and healthcare challenges.

The research fellow will be part of an enthusiastic, interdisciplinary, team within the ACHDS managed by Professor Lesley Anderson, Chair in Health Data Science. They will support a UK-wide case-control study of a rare group of blood cancers (the MOSAICC study) and conduct statistical analysis of healthcare data. Working alongside researchers, healthcare practitioners and patient representatives the research fellow will contribute to the ongoing programme of public health research. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to postgraduate teaching.

You will have a PhD in Public Health, or a closely related discipline (e.g. health data science).

You should have extensive public health research experience, a strong publication record and have contributed to external grant applications.

You should have experience of managing a research team.

You should have experience of teaching and/or supervision of MSc/PhD student projects.

You should have substantial experience with statistical analysis using STATA or R statistics packages.

You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, good team-working, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6, £37,099 – £44,263 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
