Full time fixed term contract until 31/07/2024.
Full time and part time applications (80% FTE) will be considered.
You will work on a project called Single use versus Multiple Use Endoscopes: balancing infection control and environmental impact (SUMU-Endo). The research programme will seek to apply multi methods analysis to determine the relative impacts of single-use or multiple-use endoscopes on infection risk, NHS costs, experiences of NHS and other staff, and on the environment (including disinfection or disposal).
In your role, you will carry out primary and secondary qualitative research for the SUMU-Endo project to explore the views and experiences of patients receiving endoscopy and staff and service providers involved in using, cleaning and decontaminating endoscopes.
You will also carry out literature searching and synthesis of evidence to explore the safety, clinical and cost effectiveness and environmental impact of single-use versus reusable GI endoscopes.
You will have a good first degree and a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field. You will have experience of undertaking systematic reviews, rapid reviews, primary data collection, and of report writing coupled with an ability to produce high quality research relevant to the health sciences. You will have a good understanding of the principles of evidence synthesis and qualitative/mixed methods research. You will enjoy working as part of a team and meeting tight deadlines. You will be a good communicator, be highly organised and accurate in your approach to work, and have excellent writing skills. You will have excellent attention to detail, previous project management or organisational experience in a research environment.
You will be integrated into a vibrant and growing multidisciplinary team with specialist expertise in evidence synthesis, hosted by Warwick Evidence and the newly established NIHR West Midlands Evidence Synthesis Group. You will be supported with on-job training and mentoring for your career development, and will have plenty of opportunities to work on evidence synthesis of diverse topics and produce synthesised evidence that directly inform decision-making, and to develop your own research expertise.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Yen-Fu Chen: y-f.chen@warwick.ac.uk
Interview date: TBC.
