The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a collaboration between life science reagents manufacturer Hello Bio Ltd and the University of Bristol as a Research Scientist (Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate).

Through this KTP with the University of Bristol, Hello Bio aims to design, manufacture and launch novel, uniquely-validated immunochemicals to scientists worldwide to advance research into cancer, cell biology, neuroscience and immunology.

Hello Bio Ltd is an award-winning and innovative Bristol company with a mission to make the world a better place through life science research. Hello Bio is an expert in the manufacture and commercialisation of research reagents, pharmacological tools and biological substances for use in pre-clinical life science research. These reagents are sold to researchers in universities and pharmaceutical companies worldwide, and used to investigate neurological disorders, cancer, heart disease, genetic disorders and many other pathologies.

The role-holder will have the opportunity to lead and manage the exciting programme of work to design and test multiple ranges of immunochemical products alongside design and production of these products. The associate will manage the entire process from conceptualisation to commercial product launch.

The KTP scheme provides excellent opportunities and support for training and professional development. The KTP is likely to lead onto further employment opportunities for the post-holder at Hello Bio.

What will you be doing?

Working collaboratively with the Hello Bio team and using your knowledge of a range of relevant molecular/cell biology and immunochemistry laboratory techniques, you will be responsible for development, testing and launch of a range of cutting-edge immunochemical products for protein-protein interaction, bio-magnetic separation and fluorescent imaging applications. This will require extensive laboratory experimentation and collaboration with both Hello Bio and University of Bristol teams. You will develop and lead a training programme to upskill the company’s production team and facilitate the creation of a new lab and workspace within the company for new product ranges. Following the initial phase of the project, you will lead on the launch of the new immunochemical product range, including developing materials for customer support.

You should apply if

The successful candidate will have a PhD with relevant experience in molecular biology or immunology with strong practical molecular biology skills. You will be experienced in data analysis and the interpretation of Scientific Literature with excellent organisational skills and good attention to detail. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to work successfully with people at different levels at the company and university to deliver a successful project.
