We are looking to appoint a Research Technician to work in the laboratory of Dr Natalia Bulgakova. Our group studies how cell-cell adhesion – the mechanism which physically connects neighbouring cells – is regulated in epithelial tissue and influences the behaviour of cells in the tissue using Drosophila as a model system.
The successful candidate will provide support to the ongoing projects in the group under the guidance of Dr Bulgakova. The work will include Drosophila husbandry and cell culture, X-ray irradiation of flies, sample preparations and imaging, as well as analyses of the produced experimental data. Some general lab maintenance duties such as the preparation of solutions and media will also be required. Appropriate training will be provided.
Applicants should have a degree, or equivalent laboratory-based experience relevant to cell and developmental biology. Experience in some/all of the following would be an advantage: microdissections; Drosophila genetics; immunohistochemistry; microscopy; or cell culture. An interest in applying your skills to a developmental system and excellent attention to detail are essential. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on laboratory experience and to be part of a diverse research team.
