About Us
The School of Health, Sport and Biosciences provides undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes in a range of health and applied bioscience subjects including podiatry, physiotherapy, health studies, sports science, biomedical science, pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry, and more. Both teaching and research programmes place heavy demands on technical support services.
Based at our Stratford campus, our school brings together UEL’s innovative research and teaching. We have a successful and expanding portfolio of teaching programmes and exciting new postgraduate programmes.
About the Job
We are seeking to appoint a Scientific Officer to contribute to further development of the technical provision with the aim of producing an enhanced, efficient, and flexible and technical support system that meets the short, medium, and long term needs of the school. To facilitate this, the school desires to put in place a high quality, highly skilled technical services team, ready to respond to change and able to support the diverse teaching, research and income generation activities that are necessary to ensure the school’s continued viability. This team will be characterised by flexibility, agility, and a commitment to providing a first-class service.
About You
Ideal candidates for this job should possess practical knowledge and experience in laboratory techniques and equipment usage. They must have a strong grasp of current Health and Safety legislation, including COSHH and risk assessment. The ability to provide training to others and effective interpersonal skills, including clear communication and customer-focused interactions with academic staff and students, is also crucial.
The appointed person will have a degree, or equivalent qualification, encompassing Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, along with proficiency in English and mathematics.
