Background

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding academic to enhance our current provision in phonetics. We are particularly looking for an academic with experience in clinical or applied phonetics, as part of their research, teaching or other experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving department which is the largest provider of SLT education in the UK. We are known for world-leading research and our commitment to evidence-based practice in teaching and research. We are a friendly and collegiate department, with a comprehensive mentoring system in place and a strong commitment to developing all staff in relation to their research and educational activities.

Responsibilities

Our staff team includes experts in most domains of speech and language therapy, together with leaders from aligned academic subjects, including phonetics, linguistics, psychology and audiology. The postholders are expected to enhance this team by taking a module leadership role, supervising student projects, provide pastoral support and clinical tutorial support for students.

For applicants who are eligible for appointment on an Education and Research profile there will also be an expectation for them to undertake research aligned to the Centre for Language and Communication Science Research.

Person Specification

We are looking for candidates who have clinical or other applied experience in phonetics and who can develop, our current educational provision in this area. We welcome those with academic, clinical, teaching and/or research experience in this field.
