The Physician Associate programme will be moving to Brunel Medical School from August 2023. Thereby aligning with other General Medical Council-regulated programmes as Physician Associates move to Regulation by the GMC in 2024.
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer (Education), for the Physician Associate Programme, now entering its seventh year of teaching. We require an individual with vision, commitment and academic ambition to provide leadership and to contribute to the development and delivery of Physician Associate education as we embark upon a new ambitious phase of GMC regulation. A qualified Physician Associate or Registered Medical Practitioner with experience in medical education (ideally the Physician Associate area) is sought to bring experience, knowledge and leadership skills to the team. Brunel University London has three academic tracks of employment (Teaching/Research; Education and Professional Practice). This post falls under the Education track which is for clinicians who want to make a move into academia, and academics whose interest is in teaching and scholarship. You would be largely responsible for teaching and expected to engage in educational/pedagogical projects and research.
Applicants must have experience of the delivery of high-quality teaching and of the development of physician associate/medical education to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the programme. You will be required to support students in practice. You will also need to be able to provide academic support at programme level and, co-ordinate and prioritise a range of activities effectively.
Applicants will preferably be a UK qualified Physician Associate with current clinical experience or a Registered Medical Practitioner. You will have a first degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject area; and/or a PhD or appropriate professional qualification in a relevant discipline. In addition, (if applicable), you will be a member of the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register.
The successful applicant must satisfy the requirements of a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
