FACULTY OF HEALTH, EDUCATION AND LIFE SCIENCES

Through the work done in our Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences (HELS), we play a major part in ‘powering the front line’ of our essential health, education, and social care services within the city, throughout the region and across the country.

We train more than 2,700 healthcare professionals a year – the biggest provider of healthcare training in the West Midlands and one of the biggest in the UK. Our teaching is characterised by the practical, hands-on nature of what we offer – in industry-standard facilities.

We have invested around £10 million in the past two years into a new simulation centre at our City South campus home and a significant programme of work to the Alexander Stadium – home to the Commonwealth Games – where our sports courses will shortly move.

Our research too, is firmly focused on making an impact both at home and abroad. From tackling under-representation in professional cricket, to improving menstrual health, our researchers are looking at societal problems and making a lasting difference to them.
