About the Role
The Senior Lecturer will contribute to the intellectual life of the Brain Tumour Centre, Institute, wider institution and the research field of paediatric brain tumours with focus on the characterisation of epigenetic dysregulation in these tumours to develop molecularly tailored therapies aimed at enhancing efficacy of treatment whilst reducing side effects, hence improving prognosis and quality of life for children affected by a brain tumour. They will make contributions to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of teaching activities in the subject area of neuro-oncology, cancer, stem cells and developmental neurobiology.
About You
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Molecular Oncology, Molecular Medicine, or a related discipline. They will have a proven track record of high-quality research in the field of epigenetics of paediatric brain tumours and clear and ambitious plans for future research. They will have experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, experience with developing and delivery of research-led teaching, and successful supervision of PhD students.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full-time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of September 2023. The starting salary will be Grade 7, in the range of £60,128 – £67,139 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
