Location: South Central Region
We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new “Towards 2030” strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. Currently we have over 1000 learners on CPD programmes with formal contracts with 9 out of the 11 English ambulance services, as well as an open access paramedic course at our Lancaster campus. This pedigree in paramedic education has led to the creation of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice (CEPP), which recently won the Preferred Provider Status for the Southern Ambulance Alliance (SWAST, SCAS, SECAMB, LAS, IoW), East of England Ambulance Service and North West Ambulance Service for paramedic degree apprenticeships. The University now has over 900 registered learners across the 6 apprenticeship programmes.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team developing and leading the delivery of Paramedic Apprenticeship Degree Programmes across England. This role will be one of the Senior Lecturers for the SCAS programme and will be supported by the principal lecturer, programme lead and clinical lecturers. The programme is located within SCAS education training centres, one of which will be the base location of the appointment.
You will develop positive working relationships with NHS Trusts and other organisations. The University has previously been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Outstanding Employer Engagement Award and this is reflected through the collaborative working with several organisations. You will demonstrate enthusiasm for practice-based education and their specialty and have a willingness to utilise a range of e-learning technologies and other strategies to affect the provision of high-quality learning opportunities and the best possible student experience.
This role will play a crucial part in changing the shape of ambulance service education within the UK and we are looking for someone that is willing to be creative and innovate. The CEPP is also committed to ensuring that all provision is delivered from a position of inclusivity. Inclusion is one of the key fundamental values that a successful applicant must demonstrate. Leading cultural change and challenging the current disparities within the paramedic profession will form a key part of this role.
